Glad to be back. The beast you see in the pictures got stolen and after all the work that I had done I was so pissed I put the dolomite in the back of the garage and dropped out of the scene. Well long story short the police came thru and I got the beast back and now I'm back! Thanks for having me !

The main difference between 7 speed and 8 speed is ride style/preference: where you ride(sand, road, snow etc.)  I use you tube a lot to find vids on how to bike repairs/upgrades-some are really good step by step guides and some not so much.  Your LBS is a great source for info/advice.  I live in FL my LBS has saved me a lot of time and $$$.  Good thing about these bikes is they are cheap, so upgrading them won't break the bank.  If I want to experiment I usually buy the cheapest upgrade part I can find on ebay and if I like how it makes the bike perform I'll spring for the expensive version.  Also, I have a bunch of friends who I trade parts with all the time=getting a lot of free sh_t.  Hope this helps if need more info let me know.  This is a great site & I've gotten some good info from members.  KCCO

Sorry guys for the late reply been out after a couple knee surgeries. The cool thing to me about 7vs 8 is versatility. You can have a "extra" taller or shorter gear. Really nice for the hills or low tire inflation. Personal preference will dictate the size of your gears. Also all I did was change to a rapid fire 8 speed shifter and change out the rear gears for 8. I did not use a mega range, just a cheap 8 speed replacement. This did require a new deraiiluer as the stock one just sucked for adjustability.
